What if you could help people easily understand how they and others are wired, how they perceive the world, how they make decisions? When people bridge these gaps in teams and organisations, in families and in classrooms, the world just works better.
I’ve been using Personality Type to do this for many years now and I’ve seen how it truly helps people master these skills in ways that change lives. Here are just a few examples:
A public prosecutor in Sydney, unhappy with the direction her career was taking, used Type to completely turn her life around to become a career coach sampling 33 careers over the course of a year.
A training manager in Singapore grasped the links between her work, her Type, and the stress she was experiencing. She left her highl- paid corporate position to start her own consulting business.
A mining supervisor in Western Australia once thought everyone on her crew was stupid. Through Type, she finally realized they simply perceived things differently.
Maths teachers at a school in Brisbane, seekingnew ways to engage students, used their understanding of type differences to reinvigorate their classes.
These are only a tiny fraction of the number of people who have been helped by an understanding of personality type.
Navigating around the minefield of potential conflict can make your day tougher, but using the language of personality preferences, conceived by Carl Jung and brought to life by Isabel and Katherine Myers, gives you a compass to navigate that minefield.
We’ve just made it easier to access this powerful framework.
We’ve developed Pocket Personality Cards™; a portable resource for understanding and applying personality type!
The Pocket Personality Cards™ provide practical tips for communicating with and influencing people of differing personality types. They are based on the globally popular Jungian personality type model made famous by instruments such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® and other similar tools. The cards are designed for users of Personality Type; facilitators, coaches, managers, team leaders, team members—in short, anyone who has a basic understanding of the 16 Types Model.
You see, it’s one thing to know each person’s type. It’s another to put that knowledge into action that allows for the changes you’re hoping to see. These cards:
Put key ideas into participants’ hands to ward off stereotyping and misunderstandings
Provide actionable reference points and suggestions
Prompt use of helpful and accurate language about these natural, positive differences among people to ensure that individuals and teams reap the benefits of diversity
Take these valuable concepts from the workshop setting into the real world
For Facilitators, this is a workshop in your pocket. You receive instructions for running a number of different workshop exercises for diverse topics, including communication, team development, change, conflict, leadership, coaching, innovation, learning styles, decision making, stress and more! The exercises are practical and powerful, helping individuals quickly understand personality differences.
For Managers, Team Members and Individuals, these cards give you quick hints for understanding how your co-workers perceive the world and make decisions. Use them to understand how to persuade others in your team or organisation, the keywords that appeal to different people, the contributions that they make to a team, and what to avoid when trying to influence them.
For teachers, you will develop an understanding of how to appeal to your students’ preferred learning styles, different ways you might structure lessons to appeal to the different personalities in your classroom, and simply what keeps your students engaged!
Not only do you get 16 individual type cards, but we also have cards detailing each type’s favourite (dominant) function; the heart of their personality preferences! As a bonus we also apply various lenses to each of the preferences based on the application we focus on.
The first set of cards is based around the theme of Communication. Over the next few months we will be releasing applications for Teams, Coaching, Leadership and so on. If you have any questions about the cards and how to use them, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to help!
